The English Regional Transport Association
This month we're spotlighting The English Regional Transport Association. ERTA is a voluntary membership-based, pro-public transport improvement association. Line re-openings is right up our street in advocacy, campaigning and nurturing congenial agreement and resolution, bringing people together and making common cause.
The ERTA requires General Assistants to its Chairman (who lives in Bedford) with matters such as transport (e.g. assisting with stalls), storage, archive keeping,
To Liaise with Volunteer Bureau to explore relevant outlets and apply for grants (including Lottery) via Internet searches. Explore Crowdfunding and applications to us (e.g. each study starts at £30,000 and we need them for new and re-opened railways and stations.
To take on case work, Assist on fund-raising and promotion stalls, Provide transport, Support delegated meetings and other general duties.
ERTA requires an IT Assistant who will assist with trouble-shooting and producing digital diagrams in png.format/ CAD design. The volunteer can also run an Ebay site.
People to deliver leaflets to local people living in Bedfordshire and the Northampton and Milton Keynes areas.
Local Government Liaison Officer
To liaise between local Government and ERTA, and court their support for our schemes.
The volunteer is expected to promote the organisation and maintain and update the Membership List and the Social media accounts
Project Officer – Ampthill Station
Someone to coordinate or head up the campaign/project for re-opening the railway station at Ampthill which closed some 50 years ago . Building a team, doing the homework, growing a network of support grassroots upwards and amongst professionals and elected representatives to orchestrate for moving the project forward to delivery.
Project Officer(re-opening Bedford-Northampton railway)
Someone to coordinate or head up the campaign/project for a Bedford-Northampton rail link. It could be a conventional railway or light rail or preservation. Building a team, doing the homework, growing a network of support grassroots upwards and amongst professionals and elected representatives to orchestrate for moving the project forward to delivery.
To attend both Committee and Public meetings and take minutes. Put agendas together in liaison with other members and distribute at least 2 weeks prior to each meeting/event
The ERTA requires a Social Media Officer who will maintain its Social Media accounts and post news relevant to ERTA, including requests for support and the need for volunteers.
ERTA requires a Stall Assistant for our promotion and fund-raising stalls whose duties include; seeking stall opportunities and recruiting a team to cover and man stalls
ERTA requires a Technical Support Officer to be on hand at events such as conferences, to set up equipment and help with supporting smooth operation for speakers.
The volunteer is expected to monitor and gather evidence by taking photographs of the old track-bed running between Bedford and Northampton.
ERTA requires a Westminster Liaison Officer to liaise and foster good relationships with English Regional MP’s
